‘Underwhelming’, ‘He’s a tank’: Tottenham fans have mixed reaction to Carlos Vinicius links
Tottenham Hotspur are said to be one of three Premier League teams interested in the signature of Benfica striker Carlos Vinicius this season.
That is according to ain Portugal, who are detailing the potential exit of last season’s top scorer in the Portuguese top-flight.
Earlier this summer Benfica were said to be hoping for a figure in the region of €60 million (£55.5m) for the Brazilian. However, after a summer of heavy spending, they are eager to make back some money and could go as low as €50-€55 million (£46m-£51m) in order to facilitate his sale.
Tottenham are clearly in need of a new striker, to provide cover and competition for the undisputed starter at Spurs, Harry Kane.

Vinicius was the joint top-scorer in the Portuguese top-flight last season and fits the mold of a Jose Mourinho type striker.
He is a tireless worker, big and strong, with an ability to find himself in the right place at the right time to score goals.
The parallels with the likes of Diego Costa or Didier Drogba are obvious and Vinicius would be an ideal recruit to help in the striker role for Spurs.
Some Tottenham fans can see that, whilst others are fairly realistic about that price-tag and the fact Vinicius has only thrived in Portugal.
Here is some of the best reaction from the Tottenham fans to the Vinicius news…
I think this would be quite underwhelming. Any highlights of goals that aren’t tap-ins?

Going to cost a lot I would think.

Sign him on loan, and then negotiate contract with Milik in January for a free transfer next summer?

We have to stop targeting players who’ve just had one good season. They need to be proven over a few years, to show consistency and improvement over time.
