£35m Arsenal player needs to be the first player Mikel Arteta sells this summer
Amid all of the success Mikel Arteta is enjoying at Arsenal right now, fans will imagine that plans are being put in place for the summer.
Arteta’s side laid dormant in January, perhaps preparing for another big summer of spending akin to the previous.

Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber all arrived, deals that now look better with every passing game.
Admittedly, Timber hasn’t been able to show his true worth owing to his injury, but the full-back looked like a transformational option for Arteta in pre-season, a player he would have been so gutted to lose.
And perhaps this summer Arteta would like to add a centre-back, a central midfielder and a striker to his Arsenal side.
But with a bloated squad already, you’d imagine players will need to leave, and funds will also need to be raised to support incoming business.
And with that in mind, Eddie Nketiah, who Arsenal were said to value at around £35m in Janaury, should probably be the first to leave.
Mikel Arteta has little need for Eddie Nketiah beyond the summer at Arsenal
Nketiah is a very popular player around the Emirates, after all, he’s a Hale End graduate.
And when Arsenal resisted a sale last month, it did seem like a sensible move – he was playing backup to a striker, Gabriel Jesus, who often isn’t available.

However, with both Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz preferred out of position as a false nine in recent weeks, and performing so well, the writing must be on the wall.
Nketiah simply doesn’t have a role at Arsenal anymore, and he’s only limited to short cameos once games are won.
And whilst it’s disappointing that the situation has got to this point, perhaps this is just a reality of the trajectory of the club.
Arsenal are expected to sign a new striker this summer, a goalscorer of Victor Osimhen’s level, and Arteta will then have even less need for Nketiah.
And similarly, with the 24-year-old now having had a taste of the England set-up, he will surely be desperate to play football too.
Nketiah can definitely be a key striker for another club in the Premier League, and a move now looks best for all parties.
That being said, Jamie Carragher has now been discussing the ‘superstar’ quality of a 21-year-old linked with Arsenal.
