£34m Arsenal target has now told his side he wants to sign for Roma this summer
A rumoured Arsenal transfer target has reportedly told his club that he only wants to join AS Roma this summer.
The Gunners have finally awoken in the transfer market, with Arsenal finally announcing the signing of Riccardo Calafiori after a lengthy transfer battle with Bologna to bring in the Italian international this summer.
With Mikel Merino now Arsenal’s new main target, the north London are starting to build up some pace in the window after a slow start, with Gabriel Agbonlahor now claiming the Gunners are favourites for the Premier League title.
Yet it appears that one target won’t be heading to the Emirates Stadium.

Artem Dovbyk wants Roma move despite Arsenal interest
According to Fabrizio Romano, Artem Dovbyk has told Girona that he only wants to join Roma this summer, with the Ukraine international set on a move to the Italian side after an incredible year in La Liga.
Romano posted: “AS Roma are confident, convinced to get green light from Girona on Artem Dovbyk deal after he told the club he only wants to leave and join Roma. Roma director Ghisolfi, expected to return in Italy… with Dovbyk, ready to sign a five-year deal.”
Furthermore, TBR understands that Roma have underlined to Tammy Abraham that the former Chelsea star can leave the club this summer, with the English striker aware that he isn’t in the club’s plans for the new season as Dovbyk’s move to Italy reaffirms this plan.
Indeed, Arsenal enquired about signing Dovbyk after a historic year with Girona that saw the Catalan side qualify for the UEFA Champions League, yet it appears that Roma are the side who will end up signing the £34m-rated striker this summer.

Arsenal won’t be losing sleep on being snubbed by Dovbyk
With 25 goals and ten assists in all competitions last season, Dovbyk was easily the breakout star in La Liga, with the 27-year-old striker playing an influential role in Girona’s memorable run to Champions League qualification.
Yet for Arsenal, the north London side won’t be losing too much sleep on Dovbyk choosing Roma over the Gunners, with Mikel Arteta’s side more than aware that they need a different profile of striker this summer compared to the Ukrainian.
With Arsenal starting to make moves in the market, it might not be long before a concrete approach is made for an attacker, yet missing out on Dovbyk won’t be the end of the world for the Gunners this summer.
