£32m Tottenham player is heading to club’s training ground to sign for them now

Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon is on the verge of signing for Brentford on loan after completing his medical today.

Sergio Reguilon returned to Tottenham ahead of schedule from a loan spell at Manchester United this month.

The 27-year-old racked up 12 appearances under Erik ten Hag but was brought in as emergency cover due to injuries to both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

It was reported yesterday that Reguilon was closing in on a move to Brentford, with his medical scheduled for today.

The Spaniard returned from United right at the start of the January window and looks set to head back out the door once again.

Indeed, David Ornstein claims Reguilon has completed his medical and is now on his way to Brentford’s training ground to wrap up a move across London.

Reguilon set to sign for Brentford on loan after completing medical

The Athletic journalist took to on Wednesday afternoon and shared an update on Reguilon’s proposed move to the Gtech Community Stadium.

Ornstein claims there is no option for the Bees to buy Reguilon this summer while they will also contribute towards his salary.

He wrote: “Sergio Reguilon has finished medical + heading to Brentford training ground to complete move from Tottenham on loan – no buy option.

“Brentford FC 1st made contact in November (seen as ideal cover for Henry) & will pay salary contribution.”

Since signing for Spurs for a fee worth around in the summer of 2022, Reguilon has failed to make a real impact in North London.

The early signs were positive under Jose Mourinho, but he quickly fell out of favour after Antonio Conte’s arrival and has never featured under Ange Postecoglou.

This will mark Reguilon’s third loan spell since joining Spurs and you’d imagine the club will be keen to move him on permanently come the summer.

It’s clear he doesn’t feature in Postecoglou’s plans and has entered the final 18 months of his contract at Tottenham.
