£30m player needs to leave Arsenal before the deadline, it’s time to be selfish

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has never been afraid to make a strong decision during his time at the head of the club.

Whether it was ousting Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, or leaving Mesut Ozil out in the cold, Arteta stuck by his call.

And although the last season or so has been slightly quieter in regards to those sorts of situations, Arteta has still made some polarising decisions.

The signing of Kai Havertz still divides fans to this day.

Not necessarily because the German is a poor player – he’s improving all the time, but that money should have been spent on a goal-scoring striker in the eyes of many.

Moreover, the decision to sign David Raya was similarly questioned, given many fans were quite content with Aaron Ramsdale between the sticks.

Despite being considered one of the most promising keepers in world football, Ramsdale is now just a number two.

And with just over a week to go before the January transfer window closes, it could be time for Ramsdale to be selfish and leave Arteta’s Arsenal side behind.

It’s time for Aaron Ramsdale to consider Arsenal exit after Mikel Arteta snub

Whilst many fans will cite Ramsdale’s spot in the England squad as his most pressing need to leave North London, that might be wide of the mark.

Jordan Pickford is Gareth Southgate’s number one, and that’s not about to change.

It’s time for Ramsdale to be entirely selfish and think of his own development, something that has halted under Arteta at Arsenal.

Perhaps a loan deal for the next six months would be well advised, be it a club in England or abroad.

It seems almost inevitable that Ramsdale will leave permanently in the summer, Arteta is just so happy with Raya.

The manager’s reaction to Raya’s role in Arsenal’s third goal against Crystal Palace on Saturday said it all – he’s enamoured with his new signing.

Ramsdale has enjoyed excellent success at Arsenal, he’s improved so much since he arrived from Sheffield United.

But to continue his upwards trajectory, it’s clear that Ramsdale needs to be playing regular football once again – something that isn’t going to happen with Raya around.

Many have questioned why it’s taken Kalvin Phillips so long to leave Manchester City, and Ramsdale doesn’t want to be in the same, stationary boat.
