£30m Arsenal player has earned huge credit from Mikel Arteta after what happened off the pitch last season
Mikel Arteta has proven to be a difficult manager to please during his five-and-a-half-year spell at Arsenal.
The Spaniard has overseen wholesale changes to the squad he inherited and has proven ruthless when it comes to offloading unwanted players.
The latest decision that divided opinion amongst Arsenal supporters was Mikel Arteta’s move to bring in David Raya. The Spaniard was snapped up from Brentford on a season-long loan deal last summer and his move has since been made permanent.
Aaron Ramsdale had just enjoyed a brilliant season between the sticks for the Gunners and had done little wrong to lose his place in the side.
While Arteta’s decision to bring in Raya has been vindicated, with the goalkeeper scooping the Premier League’s Golden Glove award last season, Ramsdale looks set to leave Arsenal this summer.
Despite his reduced game time over the past year, a report from has claimed that Ramsdale’s attitude has impressed Arteta behind the scenes at London Colney.

Aaron Ramsdale has earned huge credit from Arteta
The outlet claims that Ramsdale has emerged as one of the most popular members of the current England squad at Euro 2024.
His personality has been described as ‘larger-than-life’ and proved important in Arsenal’s campaign last time out.
Indeed, Ramsdale may have lost his starting place to Raya but his support for the Spaniard earned him ‘huge credit’ from Arteta.

Arsenal eyeing Ramsdale replacements
Despite impressing Arteta behind the scenes, a summer move for Ramsdale feels inevitable. The Englishman is keen to play regularly next season and after Raya’s move was made permanent this month, the chances of that happening at Arsenal seem slim.
Nevertheless, the goalkeeper is already receiving interest from the likes of Newcastle United and Serie A giants AC Milan.
With the 26-year-old likely to head out the door this summer, Arsenal have been linked with Feyenoord’s Justin Bjilow and Real Madrid’s Andriy Lunin as they search for a new Raya deputy.
