£30m Arsenal player given green light to leave with medical expected soon

Arsenal are set to make their second sale of the summer ahead of the close of the transfer window.

The Gunners have already completed a £34million sale of Emile Smith Rowe to Fulham – a club-record fee for their London rivals.

Arsenal have added David Raya and Riccardo Calafiori to their squad already and are looking to cap off their transfer window with a deal for Mikel Merino, who has already completed his medical.

Arsenal are set to pay just £6.8million up-front for Merino after agreeing a favourable payment structure with Real Sociedad.

Merino’s £27million fee is set to be covered by their latest sale, with Eddie Nketiah set to join Crystal Palace for £30million.

Arsenal give green light for Eddie Nketiah deal

Nketiah saw a move to Nottingham Forest collapse earlier this week, but Crystal Palace moved quickly to strike a deal for the 25-year-old.

David Ornstein has now shared an update on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Eddie Nketiah‘s move to Selhurst Park.

“Eddie Nketiah granted permission by Arsenal to undergo medical ahead of completing proposed move to Crystal Palace,” Ornstein posted.

“CPFC working to finalise agreements with AFC for deal worth £30m & 25yo striker on personal terms – no problems expected.”

Eddie Nketiah’s chance to shine

Nketiah’s goal record may not get Palace fans off their seats, but truthfully he has not had a consistent run in the first-team at Arsenal.

A £30million price tag comes with a lot of expectation but Nketiah will have a chance at Selhurst Park to be a first-choice striker with plenty of game time.

It is a great deal for all involved, with Arsenal earning good money for a fringe player and Palace getting a young, Premier League-proven forward.
