3 goalkeepers Arsenal should target in January if Bernd Leno joins Bayern Munich

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno is being linked with an exit in the January transfer window.

, Bayern Munich are plotting a mid-season raid on Arsenal for Leno. With growing concerns over Manuel Neuer’s age and form, Bayern Munich want to solve their goalkeeper situation.

Leno, 27, could be the long-term successor for Neuer at Bayern Munich and in the German national team. But if he leaves, Arsenal need to move quickly to sign a new goalkeeper. Here are three that should be on the Gunners’ wishlist – if Leno departs.

Nubel is widely regarded as the ‘next Neuer’ by German football fans. Like Neuer, the German stopper has come through the ranks at Schalke.

The 23-year-old is young for a goalkeeper but he already has 37 appearances for Schalke’s first-team under his belt. If Leno goes, Nubel could be the ideal German goalkeeper to replace him.

Lazio goalkeeper Strakosha could be another option for the North London club. The 24-year-old has already played 150 senior games (138 of which have come at Lazio).

Strakosha is the undisputed number one in Rome and Lazio will not let him go on the cheap. But he could be Arsenal’s first-choice keeper for the next decade so he would be worth the investment.

Andre Onana

Ajax recently tied Onana down to a new long-term deal. But the Cameroon international is worth spending big on as he has proven himself as one of the best young goalkeepers in Europe.

The 23-year-old is wanted by a host of clubs across Europe and the race could hot up. Onana is another young goalkeeper who would be worth paying the premium for.
