He’s showcasing his quality in a tough league and the Gunners will be keeping a close eye on his progress.

As a central midfielder, he could definitely have an impact on the Arsenal team and perhaps 2023 will be his year.

Brooke Norton-Cuffy

Another player currently out on loan in the Championship is this talented youngster.

The 18-year-old is rated highly by Arteta and he will be keeping close tabs on his progress at Rotherham over the next six months.

When Arsenal undoubtedly jet out to a pre-season tour ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, the teenager might be one player who gets the rule run over him by the boss.

Not the famous sports presenter, or the lanky Salford City striker. This Matt Smith is currently the captain of Arsenal in the under-21 ranks.

This one might represent a bit less of a surprise considering that he’s been knocking on the door.

Smith has been on the bench twice in the Premier League during 2022/23 and he’s clearly in Arteta’s thoughts.

At 22-years-old, 2023 will be the now-or-never year for Smith and it’d be no surprise to see Arsenal take a proper look at him during the calendar year.
