as saying that he is desperate to remain at Celtic next season, despite rumours circulating that he could leave this summer.
The 30-year-old had been out of contract at the end of the season until Neil Lennon opted to trigger a 12-month extension. It means the ex-Manchester City star is contracted to Celtic until the end of the 2019-20 campaign.
Since joining Celtic from Aston Villa for £3.5million (), Sinclair has scored an incredible 60 goals in just 159 appearances for the Scottish champions. He will be looking to win his ninth trophy on Saturday against Hearts.
Speaking ahead of the Scottish Cup final, Sinclair was asked about his future and stated that he is happy in Glasgow and is looking forward to his fourth year in green and white hoops.
“I’ve always wanted to stay. I think everyone knows my situation and how I love this club and want to be here,”
“I love the fans and playing for Celtic. Games like this (Scottish Cup final) and playing in cup finals – there’s nothing better. Obviously I was delighted. Obviously, I’m here for another year and I’m looking forward to it.”
TBR’s view
Sinclair’s form has declined since he first joined the club, where he scored 25 goals in 50 games and won the Player of the Season award. But he has come in for criticism that is far too harsh.
Indeed, some pundits – including Celtic hero Scott McDonald – believe Sinclair will leave this summer because of it. but he has still netted 17 goals in all competitions, and created six more.
Even if he scores 15 next season, Sinclair is certainly worth keeping.
