£2m Tottenham player may now feel worried as transfer rumours emerge from Hotspur Way
Ashley Phillips may now feel a bit concerned about life at Tottenham as transfer rumours start to emerge.
The 18-year-old is currently away from north London on loan at Plymouth.
So, why might Ashley Phillips feel worried about his position at Tottenham? Let’s take a look…
Why Ashley Phillips may feel worried
Well, Tottenham signed the England U19 international in a deal from Blackburn back in August.
There are high hopes for Phillips in N17 – by the looks of it.
Ange Postecoglou was apparently set to hand the teenager a debut for Tottenham amid a fitness crisis in defence earlier this season – only for the Englishman to pick up an injury of his own.
Dejan Kulusevski even claimed that Phillips is “ready” to make an impact at Spurs immediately.
However, the Salford-born defender will surely be concerned as several stories emerge, which suggest Tottenham want to sign another centre-back.

An article from earlier this week claimed that Tottenham are looking to sign Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer this summer, when his contract at Fulham expires.
The Fulham No.4 is supposedly keen on the move – according to of Football London.
Furthermore – according to – Spurs are huge admirers of Bologna No.33 Riccardo Calafiori and have plans to make a move for the £26m rated central defender this summer.
If these stories are true, it would suggest Postecoglou doesn’t believe Phillips is ready to come into the first-team this summer, which may disappoint the £2m man given how close he was to a debut just a matter of weeks ago.
Tottenham should only look at Tosin
In our view, it would not make much sense to spend around £26m on Calafiori with a talent like Phillips on the books, although a move for Adarabioyo on a free transfer would be a lot shrewder.

The 26-year-old boasts plenty of experience with Premier League appearances under his belt, and would also go down as a homegrown option.
However, a deal should only happen if Phillips stays in Postecoglou’s mind – the teenager is too precocious a talent to be forgotten about.
