28-goal sharpshooter reportedly wanted by Rangers and Celtic drops huge hint over his future

Reported Glasgow Rangers and Celtic target Lawrence Shankland has dropped a big hint over his future – and sadly it doesn’t seem to be either at Ibrox or Parkhead.

With 28 goals in 33 games for Dundee United across all competitions, plus a debut strike for the Scotland national team, the 24-year-old has had quite the season.

Shankland’s helped the Terrors go 14 points clear at the top of the Scottish Championship table, the club last week after the SPFL’s resolution to “call” the season passed.

Given his efforts, it’s little surprise to see him linked with the likes of Rangers and Celtic, with the reporting ahead of the January transfer window that they had been keeping tabs on him all season.

Former Tangerines ace Steven Thompson told in March that he would be surprised if the “really good finisher” with a “predatory instinct” was to stay at Tannadice beyond the summer.

However, Shankland suggested that his future will indeed be with United, telling the : “We have had a tough few years in the Championship, so to be part of the squad that’s taken us up to the top league is great.

“I’m looking forward to some big games against all the top teams in the Premiership.”

Shankland has clearly been a cut above in the second tier of Scottish football and has helped his side back into the Premiership, not to mention breaking into the Scotland team.

However, given his comments about lining up against “all the top teams in the Premiership” are telling.

Given the top two are Celtic and Rangers, it looks as trhough the only way he’ll grace the Parkhead and Ibrox pitches next season is as an opponent.
