Matt Turner has been speaking about his imminent move to Arsenal, and the American’s comments suggest that Bernd Leno will be leaving the Emirates this summer.
The German was Arsenal’s number one at the start of this season, but Aaron Ramsdale took over his role after just three games. The Englishman has been absolutely incredible since, which has pushed Leno towards the exit.
Almost everyone believes that the German shot-stopper will move on at the end of this season, and Turner’s comments all but confirm that Leno has no future at Arsenal.
Matt Turner’s comments suggest Bernd Leno will leave Arsenal
The 27-year-old American spoke to Alexi Lalas on this week and revealed that Arsenal have asked him to travel to North London on the 24th of June.
Furthermore, when asked about his role in Arteta’s side, Turner said: “I’m gonna go over there, I have all to fight for in preseason as I understand it. But, I know Aaron’s had a great season for Arsenal and you know he’s considered their number one. I’ll probably come in considered the number two.
“I’ve been considered a lot worse than the number two in my career. I’m gonna show up every day, I’m going to show up ready to work. I’m going over there to give this my best shot. I want to see how far I can take this thing.
“I’ve nothing to lose, I’ve exceeded almost every single expectation that people have set out for me. I’ve exceeded expectations from myself, and I want to see how far I can take things. I’m gonna drive and keep working hard and I’m just gonna keep writing my story.”

Turner has all but confirmed that he’ll be Arsenal’s second-choice goalkeeper next season. That means he’ll be taking Leno’s place in the Gunners squad, which leaves the German with no choice but to move on.
The 30-year-old has had his critics, but he’s still a fantastic goalkeeper.
, Leno has been Arsenal’s hero on numerous occasions, and he’s still capable of playing week in, week out elsewhere.
Turner is set to complete his move to Arsenal after undergoing a medical test next month. Once that deal’s done, Leno will likely be allowed to move on, bringing an end to his four-year stay at the Emirates Stadium.
