27-year-old West Ham player may leave today, he’s set to fly out to complete transfer
With West Ham United’s season delicately poised at the halfway stage of the season, David Moyes has a big opportunity in January.
His squad couldn’t definitely benefit from the arrival of an elite striker, a profile they’ve needed for some time now.
West Ham recruited so impressively in the summer after Declan Rice’s departure, with Mohammed Kudus already proving a huge coup.
And given their summer spend, it’s logical to think that Moyes will need to sell players in January in order to add to his West Ham squad.
And with that in mind, journalist has now shared a promising update on the future of Thilo Kehrer.
Sharing his update on X, Plettenberg said a deal was close and revealed that the loan will contain a £10m obligation-to-buy clause.
He said: “Keher, it’s almost a done deal now!
“If nothing goes wrong, the 27 y/o could travel to Monaco today to finalise the deal.
“Excl. detail: The six-months-loan deal includes an obligation to buy of around €11.5m! The conversion to the obligation to buy is tied to easily achievable parameters
“Understand that first contracts were exchanged in the last 1-2 days! Loan fee: €500k.”

Of course, West Ham fans will surely be very happy to see the club recoup almost all of the money they paid when signing Kehrer.
The 27-year-old simply hasn’t been able to nail down a role be it at full-back or in the middle.
And the arrival of Konstantinos Mavropanos seemed a clear signal that Kehrer’s chances had come and gone.
That being said, a clear out of David Moyes’ West Ham squad in January could present an exciting opportunity.
Perhaps the club could then seek the striker that they’ve been missing for so long.
West Ham are now said to be very keen on a 22-year-old striker who is somewhat out of favour at his club.
And as said, there could be a few moving pieces for West Ham in January who could still enjoy an excellent season.
