26-year-old Tottenham player could end up signing for Saudi club before the end of 2024

The Telegraph’s Matt Law has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur star Richarlison could end up signing for a Saudi Arabian club within the next year.

Richarlison has enjoyed a decent run of form of late, having netted five goals in his last five Premier League appearances.

It’s fair to say that the 26-year-old didn’t enjoy the best start to the campaign but has returned in fine form after undergoing surgery on a groin injury.

The Tottenham star received interest from Saudi Arabia over the summer and that hasn’t gone away.

Indeed, reports had suggested ahead of the January transfer window that he’s a target for Al Hilal as the Saudi club look to replace the injured Neymar

But after a recent upturn in form, Matt Law doesn’t expect him to move on this month. Yet, he has admitted it wouldn’t surprise him to see Richarlison head to the Saudi Pro League ‘within the next 12 months’.

Richarlison could sign for Saudi club within a year

Speaking on the , the journalist was quizzed on the future of Richarlison.

“Right at the back end of the last summer transfer window there was some interest from Saudi Arabia,” Law said. “I don’t think a concrete bid was made because I think it came too late for anything really to be able to be done.

“There was some concrete interest from Saudi Arabia. That has remained and I can see at some point Richarlison moving to Saudi.

“Now, had you asked me two months ago I’d have said I could maybe see it for January. But the sort of story and narrative around Richy, as you say he’s scored a few goals, he seems in a better place personally, I’d now be pretty surprised.

“Although, if Saudi came in with some stupid bid, Spurs would have to look at it. I don’t get the sense that a stupid bid is about to come.

“I’d now be quite surprised if he went in January, albeit not completely shocked just because I know the Saudi interest is there.

“I certainly think it could be revisited in the summer and like I say, I do think there is a chance that at some point within the next 12 months, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Richarlison ended up in Saudi Arabia.”

It would make little sense for Spurs to offload Richarlison in the middle of the campaign unless they have a suitable replacement lined up.

The Brazilian is also enjoying a bit of a purple patch in terms of scoring goals at the moment.

Tottenham look set to snap up Timo Werner over the coming days, which will bolster Postecoglou’s options in the attacking department.

While Richarlison certainly has his limitations, he’s proven to be a useful option for Postecoglou of late.

His nine-goal contributions in 17 Premier League appearances is a decent return for a player who was struggling for confidence at the start of the season.

Whether or not Tottenham decide to cash in over the summer remains to be seen. But we think Spurs should at least keep hold of Richarlison until the summer.
