26-year-old Celtic player has just limped off in the first half today while on international duty
Just as the Celtic fans are recovering from the news that Cameron Carter-Vickers has suffered an injury, they will need to take a seat for this update from the Asia Cup.
Reo Hatate was taken off in the 35th minute of Japan’s last 16 match against Bahrain and it seems like the Celtic midfielder could be suffering from an injury.
reported that Hatate was replaced in the 36th minute with Hidemasa Morita and the Celtic midfielder was spotted holding his calf as he waited to be taken off.
Hatate was spotted limping heavily and it has sparked fresh fears that he could be out for a prolonged period of time again.
Hatate had just returned from injury after he picked up a hamstring injury against Athletico Madrid in the Champions League back in October.
The news will be a worry for Brendan Rodgers. The Celtic manager struggled to find a player capable of taking over Hatate’s role in the middle of the park.
Only the recent emergence of Paulo Bernardo has helped fill the hole left by Hatate with some fantastic performances against the likes of Rangers and Dundee.
But there is little doubt Rodgers would have been looking forward to seeing Reo Hatate back in a Celtic jersey sooner rather than later.

Hatate has been a revelation since joining Celtic two years ago and has quickly established himself as one of the club’s best players.
Indeed, the extent of the injury is not yet known so the Celtic fans will need to sit tight for any further updates but the way Hatate was moving suggests that the injury does not look good.
However, coupled with the news that Cameron Carter-Vickers could also be injured, this is the last thing the club needs with the games coming thick and fast for the title run-in.
