£25m Liverpool star who’s given Arne Slot a ‘headache’ wanted by six clubs before transfer deadline

Liverpool’s transfer window seems to have come alive in August after what proved to be a quiet start for the new set-up.

Arne Slot has had enough time to evaluate his players and has taken charge of three pre-season games during the Reds’ tour to the USA as they notched up impressive wins against Real Betis, Arsenal and Manchester United.

With the Dutchman having a better impression of his players now than what was the case when he first joined, he could lo💎ok to step up his pursuit of fine𝄹-tuning the squad in the coming weeks.

Liverpool want to sign Martin Zubimendi and remain locked in talks with Real Sociedad and the player to get the deal ove🦩r the line.๊ In the meantime, one of their players who has impressed in pre-season so far has emerged as a wanted man in the transfer market.

Sepp van den Berg has featured in each of Liverpool‘s three f♔riendlies this summer and has delivered a string of assured displays at the heart of the Reds’ backline.

As the young defender continues to impres𝓡s, as many as six Bundesliga cl༺ubs have been credited with an interest to snap him up permanently or on loan.

According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, Stuttgart, Hoffenheim, Wolfsburg, Mainz, Borussia Monchengladbach and Bayer Leverkus🔴en are the clubs interested in signing the Dutchman, who is valued at around £20-25m by Liverpool.

The 22-year-old spent the previous season on loan at Mainz and is tied down at the club until the summer of 2🦩026. Liverpool have thus far rejected advances from across Europe for the young defender but if th🗹eir asking price is met, it remains to be seen how they react.

Should Sepp van den Berg stay at Liverpool or leave?

With Virgil van Dijk, Jarell Quansah, Ibrahima Kon൲ate and Joe Gomez at the club, the young defender might find game time hard to come by unless one of their senior defenders moves on or the club are struck by an injury crisis.

Phil Thompson believes Van den Berg has given Arne Slot a select🎶ion ‘headache’ w🔯ith his performances in pre-season, but w꧙ith four senior fit defenders believed to be ahead of him in the pecking order, it might be time for him to move on if he wants regular game time under his belt.

PSV Eindhoven are also interested in sig🔯ning Van den Berg, who is not short of suitors this summer.

With Liverpool demanding𒊎 around £25m f💮or the 22-year-old, they could make a sizable profit on a player they signed for £4.4m including add-ons in the summer of 2019 if they manage to agree a deal for him.
