£25m Arsenal and Tottenham attacking target is taking English lessons

Both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have been relatively quiet on the transfer front since the window opened, with just senior signing between them.

England youth international goalkeeper Tommy Setford joined Arsenal from Ajax earlier this month, but he will go into the Hale End setup initially.

Meanwhile, Spurs landed Archie Gray from Leeds. Although he’s 18 years old like Setford, he is set to go into the senior setup at Hotspur Way.

Admittedly, Arsenal are reportedly closing in on a move for Riccardo Calafiori, so they should soon be off the mark.

Calafiori was also said to be a target for Tottenham, but he’s not the only player who has been linked with both north London clubs this summer.

A report from Turkiye has now provided more information on the future of a £25million-rated attacking talent linked with both Arsenal and Tottenham.

Arsenal and Tottenham target Baris Alper Yilmaz is taking English lessons

The player in question is Galatarasay forward Baris Alper Yilmaz, who has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs this summer.

Arsenal are reportedly plotting talks with the player’s camp, while Tottenham were said to be considering making an offer for the Turkiye international.

Liverpool and West Ham have also been linked with Yilmaz, who helped his nation reach the Euro 2024 quarter-finals this year.

have also mentioned the Hammers’ interest in the 24-year-old, saying they’re keeping tabs on his situation.

In addition, they also claim that Yilmaz has been taking English lessons ahead of a potential summer move to the Premier League.

Who is Arsenal and Tottenham target Baris Alper Yilmaz?

Baris Alper Yilmaz is a 24-year-old professional footballer who plies his trade for Turkish giants Galatasaray and represents Turkey at international level.

His entire career to date has been spent in Turkiye. He played for Rize Ol, Ankara Demir and Ankara Keciorenguru before joining Galatasaray in the summer of 2021.

Yilmaz has made 108 competitive appearances to date for Gala, registering 11 goals and 14 assists. He has also won 20 caps, scoring twice.

In 2021, Football Talent Scout’s Jacek Kulig compared Yilmaz to Son Heung-min, saying the Spurs icon is a similar type of player.

He listed pace, dribbling, finishing, technique, ball control and athleticism as Yilmaz’s strengths, and gave him a potential rating of 8 out of 10.

With so many clubs seemingly after Yilmaz, the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham will not want to waste time in pursuit of his signature.
