24-year-old Liverpool player made Premier League history against Chelsea last night

Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez made Premier League history against Chelsea on Wednesday evening.

The Uruguayan was unfortunate not to net at least once as Liverpool thrashed Chelsea 4-1 last night.

Darwin Nunez hit the post from the penalty spot in the first half and missed an opportunity to hand Liverpool a 3-0 lead.

The 24-year-old hit the woodwork four times in the game, three times in the first half and once in the second period.

It’s fair to say it just wasn’t Nunez’s night and he became the first player on record to have hit the woodwork four times in a single Premier League game.

claims that Nunez is the only player on record to hit the woodwork on four occasions in a Premier League game.

You have to feel for Nunez. On another night, he could have finished the game with at least a hat trick to his name.

The forward arguably could have done better from the spot but he was unfortunate to see his other three efforts hit the woodwork.

He still managed to grab an assist on the night as he set up Luis Diaz. But he will undoubtedly be ruing the near misses today.

Nunez has now hit the woodwork 12 times this season and you can only sympathise with the Uruguayan forward, even if he is wasteful in front of goal at times.

Nevertheless, Liverpool were in fine form last night and picked up yet another win to keep them at the top of the Premier League table.

Diogo Jota, Conor Bradley, Dominik Szoboszlai and Luis Diaz were all on target.
