24-year-old Arsenal want is so happy at his club; won’t go unless something crazy happens – Romano
Fabrizio Romano has suggested that while Arsenal are interested in Martin Zubimendi, the midfielder remains in love with Real Sociedad and thus, it would take something crazy to tempt him away in the January transfer window.
Martin Zubimendi is one of the players on Arsenal’s radar. The Gunners will be looking for the signings who could help put their Premier League title challenge back on track.
Zubimendi has been an Arsenal target for some time. However, Mikel Arteta has, so far, been unsuccessful in any attempts to bring him to the Emirates.
Arsenal target Martin Zubimendi is so happy at Real Sociedad
And it seems that Arsenal face another uphill battle trying to strike a deal this month. Speaking on , Fabrizio Romano shared that he is a target for Arsenal and has a release clause of £51.6 million.

However, convincing the 24-year-old to make the move from San Sebastian is clearly going to be a huge task for the Gunners as he would love to stay put.
“I think it’s even more difficult, Zubimendi in January. For one reason, for Real Sociedad, it’s a historical season. They have the chance to play in the round of 16 in the Champions League. And trust me, Zubimendi is not happy at Real Sociedad, he’s more than happy, he’s in love with the club,” he said.
“Knowing the boy a bit, I know that he’s super, super happy there. Real Sociedad means the world to him. And so, to play Champions League, with that shirt to have the possibility to play in the round of 16 against Paris Saint-Germain, it’s something super special. To change his mind has to be something completely crazy. And at the moment this is not happening.”
Gunners move looks to be off the table in this window
Arsenal fans would be forgiven for not holding their breath when it comes to signing Zubimendi this month.
It was seemingly telling that the Gunners only signed David Raya on an initial loan at the end of the summer transfer window. That would suggest that they do not have a lot to spend this month.
Certainly, it is hard to see them being able to offer nearly £52 million to sign Zubimendi. And clearly, that is not the end of the battle for the Gunners, as he would be happy to stay put.
With that, you would think that Arsenal may look elsewhere if they are desperate to land another midfielder this month. Of course, the Gunners are also interested in Douglas Luiz. And they will surely have other names on their radar.
But if they fail to sign anyone in January, Zubimendi is surely going to be one name to look out for in the summer.
