£23,000-a-week player now training alone after being linked to Leeds United this summer

Leeds United may still be able to sign a summer transfer target in the January window.

Daniel Farke welcomed some exciting players to Elland Road this summer – such as Largie Ramazani and Manor Solomon – but there was one man over at AC Milan who evaded the Whites.

Now – however – a deal looks like it has a great chance of materialising for Leeds United in January…

A story from in France claimed that Leeds United wanted to sign Fode Ballo-Toure from AC Milan before last Friday’s 11pm transfer deadline.

Farke was in the market for backup to Junior Firpo, although the man ended up staying at the San Siro after failing to find a club which suited him.

Now – according to – the Senegal international is training by himself at AC Milan, who were left angered when the defender snubbed a move to Saint-Etienne this summer.

The Italian news outlet add that Divock Origi has also been banished by Paulo Fonseca as AC Milan aim to remove some deadwood from their squad.

Gazzetta dello Sport interestingly mention that Ballo-Toure wanted a move to England, so a January switch to Elland Road could certainly happen, so long as a Turkish side do not snap the 27-year-old up before their transfer deadline on Friday 13th September.

Pre-transfer agreement could even be struck

If Leeds United find themselves unwilling to spend money on Ballo-Toure in January, those on the recruitment team at Elland Road could agree a pre-transfer.

For those confused by that term, it is something clubs can explore when it comes to players who only have six months remaining on their contracts.

In Ballo-Toure’s case, the left-back becomes a free agent in July 2025, so Leeds United can move to shake hands with the Senegalese defender in January, ahead of a free transfer switch in the summer of 2025 when his AC Milan contract officially expires.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as the saga involving Leeds United and Ballo-Toure may not be over just yet…
