Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal could send Omar Rekik out on loan in the final days of the January transfer window.

That is according to Football Transfers, which has noted that the 22-year-old central defender is training with the Arsenal first team.

So, what has been reported about Arsenal and Omar Rekik? Let’s take a look.

Omar Rekik could leave Arsenal on loan

Well, according to , Arsenal could send Omar Rekik back out on loan this week.

The report has claimed that the 22-year-old Tunisia international centre-back is currently training with the Arsenal first team after returning from a loan spell at Wigan Athletic.

Arsenal, who have been linked with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, could now send Rekik out on loan again before the January transfer window closes this week.

My View: Omar Rekik should consider his long-term future

In my opinion, Omar Rekik has to consider his long-term future at Arsenal.

I am not saying that the centre-back should sever ties with the Gunners for good now, but he has to evaluate his options at the end of the season.

Rekik has been on the books of Arsenal since 2021 when he joined from German club Hertha Berlin.

Since then, the Tunisia international has been out on loan at Sparta Rotterdam and Wigan Athletic.

Rekik is under contract at Arsenal until . He may be training with the first team now, but he is not going to get chances under manager Mikel Arteta anytime soon.

There is that Arsenal are looking for a new centre-back. This suggests that the Gunners do not think that Rekik is ready for the first team.

The Tunisia international is 22 now. He is at the age where he needs chances to show what he is capable of. It does not look likely that he will get them at Arsenal. I think that he should find a new club at the end of the season and leave the Gunners for good.
