£21m target who is ‘open to joining Arsenal’ now suggests he could leave his club

With Liverpool closing in on big-name signings such as Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz, Arsenal will be aware that they cannot afford to rest on their laurels in the summer transfer window.

Milos Kerkez is keen to join Liverpool as well and as a result, Andrea Berta must address the priority areas in the Gunners’ squad or risk leaving Mikel Arteta with a side incapable of winning the Premier League.

Next season, Arsenal fans will be expecting Arteta to win either the league or the Champions League after four seasons of failing to lead them to any major silverware.

Andrea Berta could have a war chest in excess of £300 million and the Emirates faithful will be hoping that he is given the licence to spend big this summer.

One of the players who Arsenal have held a longstanding interest in signing is Joan Garcia, who has a £21 million release clause in his contract.

Arsenal target Joan Garcia hints he could leave Espanyol

Garcia agreed personal terms with Arsenal last summer, which explains how highly the North Londoners rate him.

Even Manolo Gonzalez admitted Garcia could leave Espanyol as it seems more and more likely that he could leave for pastures new in the summer.

After Espanyol’s 2-0 win against Celta Vigo, the Spaniard suggested while speaking to DAZN Espana that he could leave the RCDE Stadium in the summer: “Everyone knows the situation I and the club are in.”

Garcia, who is “open to joining” Arsenal, according to David Ornstein also added: “Whatever happens, I will leave proudly, leaving the team in the First Division.”

Arsenal could sign Joan Garcia for a discount

Even Manchester United are interested in signing Garcia, who has cemented his reputation as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe this season.

Espanyol need to urgently sell Garcia for at least £12.6 million before the end of the financial year to break even, which is good news for Arsenal.

However, the 23-year-old’s release clause could rise to £25.1 million in the last 15 days of the summer transfer window or if he is called up by Spain.
