£20m Tottenham player may still have a chance of staying for next season

As the summer progresses, it’s becoming more and more clear which Tottenham Hotspur players Johan Lange will aim to move on this summer.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg sealed his departure to Marseille on Monday, a loan deal which will eventually see the Dane leave Spurs permanently.

And despite featuring in pre-season, the feeling is that it won’t be too long until Emerson Royal will leave Tottenham.

Royal has been included in Spurs’ squad for their pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea but it seems as if AC Milan may eventually find an agreeable deal.

That being said, neither Sergio Reguilon or Bryan Gil have travelled to Asia given the pair are attempting to secure moves elsewhere.

And in that regard, many Tottenham supporters would have probably imagined that the same could be said for Djed Spence by this point of pre-season.

However, having fared well in pre-season wins against Hearts and QPR, it seems as if Spence may still have a chance at changing Ange Postecoglou’s mind.

Ange Postecoglou may decide to keep Djed Spence at Tottenham

According to , Spence could still secure a place in Tottenham’s Premier League squad this season if he continues his good form in Asia.

The 23-year-old, who cost Tottenham , could still prove to be invaluable to plans, even if Postecoglou previously had doubts about Spence’s attitude.

Spence is able to provide cover for both Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro on both sides of the defence – potentially saving Spurs from two new additions.

Of course, it’s all still very hypothetical for now, and Spence still has considerable work to do in order to create a future in north London.

Tottenham seemed more than ready to sell Spence to Genoa after his loan spell in Italy, only for a deal to then break down.

Right now, Jamie Donley, who is first and foremost an attacking midfielder, has been playing at left-back in pre-season whilst Udogie recovers from surgery on his left quadriceps.

And unless Spurs decide that Spence can be Udogie’s long-term backup, Postecoglou’s options in the area would appear dangerously thin.

All that being said, one Tottenham target has now been forced to train alone in pre-season.
