£20m Liverpool player who has impressed Arne Slot in training wanted by Bundesliga club on permanent transfer
Liverpool could be set for a bit of a clear-out before the end of the transfer window with a host of players all up for sale.
Arne Slot faces an important period ahead of him as with the transfer window set to slam shut at the end of the month, he faces a race against time to tinker with his squad.
Four Liverpool players have been linked with moves away from the club and if reports are to be believed, one of them is wanted on a permanent transfer. Fabio Carvalho, Bobby Clark, Ben Doak and Sepp van den Berg are the players who have attracted interest in recent weeks, but Van den Berg could be the first player out of the door.
According to a report from , the Dutch defender is a wanted man this summer and could return to the Bundesliga, where he enjoyed a successful loan spell with FSV Mainz.
Wolfsburg open to signing Sepp van ben Berg on a permanent transfer
While Mainz are interested in bringing Van den Berg back to the club, Wolfsburg have also entered the race to secure his signature.

The report also states that the defender is valued at £20m by Liverpool. Van den Berg has impressed Arne Slot in pre-season, although it remains unclear at this stage if Wolfsburg are willing to meet the asking price.
Van den Berg is also wanted by PSV Eindhoven, so Wolfsburg need to make a move soon if they are serious about pressing ahead with their interest in the Liverpool man.
Liverpool in no rush to part with Sepp van den Berg
With the 22-year-old tied down at the club until the summer of 2026, Liverpool aren’t under immediate pressure to part with him.
Additionally, Van den Berg has featured regularly in pre-season under Slot and has delivered a string of assured displays at the back, indicating that he can more than hold his own at Anfield.
Joel Matip‘s departure at the end of the 2023-24 season has created a vacancy at the back for Liverpool. However, with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Jarell Quansah and Joe Gomez present at the club, the Dutchman could find regular game time hard to come by.
Liverpool have thus far stood firm on their £20m valuation and that is likely to be their stance for the rest of the summer transfer window. If interested clubs meet the asking price, the Reds could sanction a sale. However, the Reds won’t be forced to part with a young player below his valuation, so only time will tell where Van den Berg plays his football in the upcoming season.
