20-year-old thinks he can make it at Chelsea, he embarrassed senior teammates in training last season

There has now been an interesting update regarding Omari Hutchinson for Chelsea fans to digest.

It was The Athletic who provided the information.

So, what is the latest on Omari Hutchinson at Chelsea? Let’s take a look…

What Omari Hutchinson was doing in training last season

Well – according to – the youngster was actually running rings around senior teammates in training at Cobham last season, before moving to Ipswich Town on loan for the 2023/24 campaign back in July.

It is said that Hutchinson and Joao Felix struck up a strong connection in training, and would often leave older, more experienced teammates “chasing shadows” in certain sessions.

The Athletic state this gave the 20-year-old belief that he could make it at Chelsea.

Hutchinson has since been shining on loan at Portman Road, scoring goals while also providing six assists in 36 Championship appearances as Ipswich Town sit third – one point off the summit.

Problem at Chelsea

Hutchinson certainly has the talent to make it work at Chelsea, but he may need to become more versatile.

As things stand, the Jamaica international predominantly plays on the right flank, where he causes havoc when cutting inside on his stronger left foot – the winger has made appearances in that position this season.

However – back at Stamford Bridge – Mauricio Pochettino already has the likes of Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke in that department.

Hutchinson also likes the No.10 role – making 12 appearances there this season – but again, that is a crowded field at Chelsea with attacking midfielders such as Carney Chukwuemeka, Conor Gallagher, Raheem Sterling, Mykhailo Mudryk and also Palmer all available in that area.

Hopefully, the Redhill-born wonderkid is not cast aside in west London, and Chelsea can find a way to get him involved at Stamford Bridge.
