20-year-old reacts after swapping Rangers for West Ham
after completing a move to the Hammers from Rangers. The Scottish goalkeeper had spent time on trial at West Ham, and has now signed a permanent deal. Kinnear spoke of his delight to leave Rangers and sign for the Hammers.
Kinnear, 20, has completed a permanent move to West Ham after coming through the ranks at Rangers. The two-time Scotland Under-21 international failed to make a senior appearance for the Gers. But he caught the eye while on trial, impressing in the 2-2 draw against Aldershot.
Now, he joins the Hammers despite West Ham already bringing in Alphonse Areola – and boasting both Lukasz Fabianski and Darren Randolph. But the young Scotsman is likely to link up with the Under-23 side, given that Nathan Trott has joined French club Nancy on loan. He reacted.
“I’m really happy, I’ve been on trial for a bit. I’m just happy to get it over the line. I can’t wait to get started,” . “It’s a change, having to move away from home, the first time I’m having to do that. I’m coming from a big club like Rangers in Scotland – coming down here to a great club.”

Areola is now expected to be the club’s first choice after a stellar season on loan at Fulham last term. A France international, the World Cup winner boasts plenty of calibre and is likely to overtake Fabianski – who is now second choice. Kinnear should be a regular in the Under-23 side.
That will see the Scotsman come into the fray as third choice – but right now, he is fourth in that pecking order. That is because of Randolph. But surely the Ireland international will be keen on leaving the Hammers in order to find more game time – after the signings of Areola and Kinnear?
