18-year-old Tottenham loanee voted player of the match by fans after ‘outstanding’ display yesterday
In what is proving to be an incredibly busy January for Tottenham Hotspur, there has been a bit of a defender merry-go-round.
The Radu Dragusin transfer saga took many twists and turns, only for the Romanian to make the right choice in the eyes of Spurs’ fans.

Turning down a strong approach from Bayern Munich, the defender could be close to the Tottenham XI against Manchester United today.
Of course, that move saw Tottenham defender Eric Dier head to the German club, an amicable January solution for all parties.
However, one centre-back move may have gone under the radar during all of this.
18-year-old Ashley Phillips joined Championship side Plymouth Argyle on loan last week for the remainder of the season.
And when making his full debut for the side in a 1-1 draw against Huddersfield Town, the defender certainly impressed.
Phillips has made eight appearances in the Championship previously with Blackburn Rovers, and it seemed as if he’d never been away.
The defender was voted the fan’s player of the match for his display, one Argyle called ‘’ on their social media.
Tottenham defender Ashley Phillips impresses on Plymouth debut after January loan switch
Of course, Spurs fans will be hoping for more of the same from Phillips who could have a big future with the club.
Given all of the defender absences Postecoglou has contended with at Tottenham this season, it always looked as if the side would add in January.

Perhaps there has been a temptation to throw the talented Phillips into the deep end, however, Postecoglou will know best.
The manager is known for his expertise in developing young players, and he clearly didn’t think the time was right.
It’ll be interesting to see where Phillips does fit in to future plans, although he will need to develop well to keep pace with this Tottenham side.
And as well as the return of two defenders in Postecoglou’s Tottenham squad against Manchester United today, it seems as if one January arrival may make his debut.
There’s a real feel good factor around Spurs right now, and there’s no reason to think it’ll be halted today.
