16-goal striker says he’s never liked the Premier League after claims Arsenal want to sign him

Victor Boniface has admitted that he isn’t convinced on a move to the Premier League amid recent transfer interest from Arsenal.

The Bayer Leverkusen striker has been one of the revelations of the season in Europe, with Boniface already hitting 16 goals in all competitions in his first year with the Bundesliga side.

And as a result, transfer interest is starting to emerge for Boniface, with Arsenal one of the sides reportedly interested in signing the Nigerian international.

However, , Boniface has revealed that he’s never been a big fan of the Premier League, with Spain the country the attacker wants to ultimately play in.

Boniface said: “To be honest with you I never liked the Premier League. I just think it is not my style. I love to play in Spain or Germany. I’m not saying if it came at the right time for me to come to England I would say no.

“But what I am trying to say is that when I was young I loved the Spanish and German league so much because of the way they play. But I’m not saying I would refuse to come to England. But I’m saying if I had to pick one I would play in Spain.”

Arsenal could still convince Victor Boniface to move to the Premier League

Boniface’s stance on the Premier League is an unusual one, to say the least, with the English top-flight viewed as the best division in all of football.

Yet whilst Boniface’s comments might be seen as a blow for the likes of Arsenal, that doesn’t mean that the Gunners are totally helpless in any potential swoop for the Leverkusen man.

Indeed, the north London side need a new leading striker, and Boniface’s record this season strongly suggests that the Nigerian international could be the man to do just that for Arsenal.

Moreover, the prospect of playing alongside the likes of Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard might be too tempting for Boniface to reject, even if the forward has his heart set on a move to La Liga.
