£15m West Ham player has just been tipped to join Celtic before deadline day

The need for Celtic to add to the squad has never been more apparent ever since Brendan Rodgers made a song and dance about it after the Champions League exit.

෴But despite that, Celtic are now sitting with just one new addition to the squad on the 30th of January with less than three days of the window to go.

It really is a far cry from the Ange Postecoglou era when transfer business was done quickly and early. So it was just a matter of time before names started being banded about for a possible Parkhead move and journalist, Mark Guidi🌃, has namechecked one player that will raise the eyes of the Celtic support.

༺Guidi said [], “It could be somebody right out of the blue from down the road who’s maybe not featured. You just don’t know.

“Could it be a short-term thing? Could it be Danny Ings from West Ham? You just don’t know.

🧔“And then that’s where through your contacts you’ve got to be creative in the market. And in an ideal world, you go and sign someone the now for the next three or four years.

𓆏“But if it’s a short-term fix because of that title race then sometimes you need just go with the short-term fix if it gets to where you need to be come the end of May.”

Danny Ings for Celtic?

𒊎It’s difficult to see why this move would make sense. Let’s gloss over the fact that at 31, Ings doesn’t fit the profile of a Celtic signing.

♔Clearly, a short-term loan move would be the thinking here but is bringing in a striker with just one goal in 20 appearances the answer?

🥂To be fair to Ings and to offer some balance, he is averaging just over 29 minutes per game this season so finding a regular goalscoring touch will always be difficult under those circumstances. []

ꦛIngs’ best performance of the season came against Sheffield United in the 2-2 draw at Bramall Lane. The 31-year-old won a penalty for The Hammers but despite creating four chances and having six shots on goal, he still failed to find the back of the net. []

ꦬWhilst Celtic do need to add some fresh faces, I don’t believe a 31-year-old striker who is struggling for goals is the answer.

There is quality out there that won’t cost the earth, as I spoke about yesterday⛄. Let’s hope the Parkhead recruitment department is working on overdrive to find them.
