14-goal forward is keen to join Arsenal and he’s Mikel Arteta’s perfect signing this month

Heading into the final weeks of the January transfer window, Arsenal are seemingly no closer to adding firepower to Mikel Arteta’s squad, at least from the outside looking in.

Since news of Gabriel Jesus’ unfortunate long-term injury, at a point when he was just finding form for Arsenal, the club have now consistently been linked with a host of strikers.

Dusan Vlahovic and Benjamin Sesko are both thought to be on the Mikel Arteta’s radar, and both would be stellar additions.

However, it remains to be seen how realistic a move for either is for Arsenal.

Arsenal are unlikely to sign Vlahovic on a short-term basis and their longer-term option, Sesko, might have to wait until the summer.

That being said, Arsenal might actually be better off adding goals on the wing if a signing a striker isn’t viable, and the perfect candidate is primed for a return to the Premier League.

Ademola Lookman could be a bargain for Arsenal in January

Since he left Everton in 2019, Ademola Lookman has now gone on to hit unbelievable levels for Atalanta, heading to Italy from RB Leipzig.

On Tuesday evening, Lookman grabbed his fourth Champions League goal of the season, meaning he’s now netted 14 goals in 26 appearances for Atalanta in all competitions – better numbers than Bukayo Saka even achieved before his injury.

At 27-years-old, Lookman has elevated his game to a genuinely world-class level, explaining why he was recently nominated for the Ballon d’Or.

In terms of the winger heading to north London, it was recently reported that Lookman is keen to join Arsenal, which would make a transfer a lot easier for the Gunners.

Secondly, Lookman only has 18-months left on his Atalanta contract, meaning the club could be in a precarious position should they let that deal run down.

As a result, Atalanta want for Lookman according to reports, an absolute bargain from Arsenal’s point of view.

Lookman can play on either wing and even thrives as a false nine at times in Italy.

Of course, Arsenal would be sensible to only make a signing this month who can complement Saka when he returns from injury.

Fortunately, Lookman could definitely be a long-term success in N5, given that he could be the left-winger in Arteta’s strongest eleven.

Without disrespecting Gabriel Martinelli or Leandro Trossard, Lookman is simply a step above the duo right now.

Perhaps some will point to the differences between English and Italian football, but Lookman even proved how dangerous he is when facing Arsenal earlier this season.

Arsenal need a striker yes, but there’s absolutely no reason why they shouldn’t be targeting Lookman this month too, even if the Italians won’t let their star leave easily.
