£13m Tottenham player seriously struggling for minutes on loan, he could now be fourth choice

It’s been clear that both Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham Hotspur have been keen to make the most of the loan market this season.

As well as welcoming the likes of Timo Werner to the club, several youngsters have also left on loan seeking first team football.

Both Ashley Phillips and Alfie Devine will be learning a lot whilst at Plymouth Argyle right now, who are one of several teams fighting for survival in the Championship.

And then at the other end of the table you have Joe Rodon at Leeds United, who is simply bettering his reputation and asking price in the summer, from a Spurs perspective at least.

Of course, Alejo Veliz did also leave for Spain and Sevilla in January just six months after arriving in England.

It looked like a good loan at the time, Sevilla were known to love Veliz’s skill set, after all, they wanted to sign him before he ended up in London, and yet things aren’t quite working out.

Although he did join with a knee injury, Veliz has now been fit for a while and yet has played just 23 senior minutes in 39 days with the club.

Spanish outlet have now been providing more details around Veliz’s frustrations too.

Owing to the emergence of Isaac Romero of late, and Rafa Mir’s position, Veliz quickly became third choice when he arrived, not befitting of a player handed the #10 shirt.

And with Dodi Lukebakio now fit again too, Veliz has ‘fallen even further into the background’.

It’s a tough situation for the young Tottenham striker out on loan, who probably hasn’t enjoyed the first season in Europe he may have imagined.

At 20-years-old, Veliz still has an enormous amount of time to turn things around, but it’s clearly not going to be easy.

Spurs are thought to have a lot of faith in the Argentinian, they wouldn’t have paid for him otherwise.

But similarly it looks like competition will only get tougher in Ange Postecoglou’s side next season, especially with a 22-goal striker now under the microscope.
