Veliz was just beginning to find his feet at Spurs after netting his first goal for the club and the injury couldn’t have come at a worse time for the youngster.

Nevertheless, he could yet return ahead of schedule as he’s stepping up his recovery behind the scenes at the moment.

He will have added competition for a place in Postecoglou’s squad when he returns after the arrival of Timo Werner.

Dane Scarlett has also returned from a loan spell at Ipswich Town and got some minutes under his belt in the 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Man City on Friday.

It remains unclear just how far Veliz is from returning to action. But Spurs have been boosted by the returns of Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero and James Maddison over the past couple of weeks.
