115 touches, 4 tackles: Trent Alexander-Arnold was superb for Liverpool at Brentford
It was quite the football match in the late kick-off yesterday as Liverpool drew 3-3 with Brentford in what was a pulsating encounter.
The Bees more than held their own against the former Premier League champions and almost won it at the death, when Ivan Toney’s effort was ruled out for offside.
For Liverpool, it was a night of frustration. The Reds could have put the game to bed with the chances they created but, like in other games, they missed a fair few.

But while the focus in Liverpool is normally on the mercurial attacking talents of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane, yesterday there were other players who shone for Jurgen Klopp’s side. None more so than England man and Anfield darling, Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Alexander-Arnold impresses again for Liverpool
After missing out on the Euros in the summer with England, ‘Trent’ seems to have come back with a chip on his shoulder. He’s already been integral for the Reds, contributing assists and a goal already.
Yesterday at Brentford, Alexander-Arnold was everywhere. And on balance, he probably deserved more from the game.
Per stats provided by , Alexander-Arnold topped the Liverpool books in a number of key fields.
He had the most touches with 115, delivered the most crosses with a whopping 12, and made an impressive four tackles. He added to that the most ball recoveries (8) and most interceptions (3) to show he certainly has his defensive head on too.
So, while the three points eluded the Reds, if Alexander-Arnold can continue like this, then the sky is the limit.
Questions have been asked of the Liverpool star. Sometimes, unfairly. But he showed yesterday he has everything in the locker to be the very best right-back in this league, and even in Europe.
Yes, the stats are in isolation here, but it’s just a snippet of what the 22-year-old brings to the Liverpool table.
