£10m Tottenham player could be out for six weeks through injury

Alasdair Gold has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies could be out for four to six weeks through injury.

Ben Davies has enjoyed a run in the Tottenham side since early November ever since Micky van de Ven picked up a hamstring injury against Chelsea.

The 30-year-old has been ever-present in the Dutchman’s absence, playing alongside Emerson Royal and Cristian Romero.

Davies has stepped up well over the past couple of months to help Spurs stay within touching distance of the top four.

But the man picked up a hamstring injury in the 1-0 win over Burnley in the FA Cup last Friday.

And in what is yet another injury blow for Ange Postecoglou, it seems he could be set for a spell on the sidelines.

Davies could be out for six weeks

Speaking in his latest video, Gold shared an update on Davies’ injury.

“Ben Davies, from what I understand, potentially four to six weeks is the kind of timeframe they’re looking at,” the Football.London journalist said.

“But what I would say is that Ben Davies is quite quick healer, from previous kinds of issues he’s had. So, I’m sure he as a player will be looking to come back sooner than that.”

Van de Ven returned to the matchday squad last Friday but is yet to get any minutes under his belt since his injury.

It will be a huge boost for Postecoglou to have the Dutchman back ahead of Sunday’s trip to Old Trafford, especially with Davies sidelined.

Cristian Romero is also in contention to return to action ahead of schedule after suffering a hamstring injury in the 2-1 win over Everton last month.

Tottenham also look set to wrap up a deal for Radu Dragusin imminently, which should further boost Postecoglou’s options in the position.
