Tottenham Hotspur star Ryan Sessegnon has claimed that he doesn’t quite understand why Son Heung-min is so underrated in the Premier League.

The South Korean joined Spurs all the way back in 2016 from German side Bayer Leverkusen for £22 million. () He instantly became a fan favourite at White Hart Lane, and Tottenham fans absolutely adore him.

However, if a neutral is asked to name their top five attackers in the Premier League, Son probably wouldn’t get into most lists, and it really is strange why.

Sessegnon was asked about the 29-year-old and he raved about Son’s partnership with Kane, before touching on why the South Korean is so underrated.

Ryan Sessegnon: Tottenham star Son Heung-min is very underrated

Asked if Son is underappreciated, the Englishman said, as per : “100%. It’s hard to know why he is underrated because consistently season after season his numbers are there.

“I think it’s because he’s such a down-to-earth normal guy, he’s not an arrogant person and he’s just very friendly with everyone. That’s probably why.”

Speaking about the Korean’s partnership with Kane, Sessegnon said: “They can do special things on the ball and you saw that again (vs Leicester).

“Sonny assisted H again and their combination they’ve had ever since playing together is unbelievable. Consistent over the last six or seven years, they’ve been doing it at the top level and the numbers speak for themselves.”

TBR View:

Son really is a phenomenal player and he probably doesn’t get the credit he deserves at times.

The South Korean has played 321 times for Spurs and has directly been involved in 200 goals (127 goals and 73 assists). That is an incredible return for someone who mostly features out wide and those numbers will only go up in the coming years.

Tottenham fans have their issues with Daniel Levy but the Spurs chairman really does deserve credit for tying his players down to long-term contracts.

Son is good enough to play for most clubs in the world but the fact that he still has over three years left on his current deal means he’s not going anywhere anytime soon. That’s excellent news for Tottenham fans.
