Liverpool picked up yet another win in the Champions League last night, this time against Portuguese giants Porto.

The game was of little significance for the Reds. Jurgen Klopp’s men were guaranteed the top spot in the group even before a ball was kicked yesterday, and a number of fringe players were given a chance as a result.

One such player is Neco Williams, who only started his second game of the season. Thiago and Mo Salah have made the headlines for their brilliant goals, but if are anything to go by, the young full-back was the best player on the pitch last night.

Here’s a look at Williams’ stats from the game against Porto yesterday.

Stats: Neco Williams v Porto

Williams had only made three other appearances this season before last night. Klopp has always claimed that he’s happy with his performances, but Trent Alexander-Arnold’s brilliance means there’s no place for the youngster.

However, he was given the nod yesterday and his stats look impressive.

In his 90 minutes on the pitch, Williams had 88 touches of the ball and completed 34 passes. He registered two key passes, attempted three long balls and three crosses against Porto last night. He even completed five of his six attempted dribbles. ()

Defensively, his numbers look great. The 20-year-old made three tackles and a clearance. His standout stat from last night, however, is the fact that he won 10 of his 11 attempted ground duels, which is a tremendous return. ()

He was rated 7.9 by , which is not the greatest score, but it’s still higher than every other player who featured at Anfield yesterday.

Williams is rarely ever used by Klopp, having played just 187 minutes all season so far. However, his performance last night may just tempt the Liverpool boss to give him more opportunities in the coming weeks and months.
